PUSH broke ground on its cutting-edge residential geothermal heating system last week! The system is a core element of what will be Buffalo's first NetZero house at 10 Winter Street, which will produce as much energy as it consumes. NetZero construction is now the norm across Europe but it's virtually unknown in the United States. Cutting energy consumption to Zero at 10 Winter is achievable through a combination of solar and geo-thermal systems. Yesterday, PUSH was joined by key partners including Watts Engineering, which designed the system, the Operating Engineers Local 17, the Outsource Center, CIR Electric and the Community Foundation. We're already planning for another NetZero house right next door at 16 Winter Street, which will access the same geothermal system.
