PUSH rocked its second annual meeting this past Saturday @ 271 Grant St. With 75 people in attendance, food, great music courtesy of Ismail and Tom, and of course, PUSH members, the meeting-turned-party was a huge success. PUSH would like to thank everyone who came, cooked, cleaned and otherwise helped out. We couldn't have done it without you.
During the course of the meeting, PUSH's accomplishments for 2007 were reviewed. We have them for you right here:
-Launching our Anti-Poverty Housing Campaign
-Helping to Create the "Block by Block Program & acquiring 3 million dollars for the city
-Helping to launch the new advocacy and policy initiative, Partnership for the Public Good
-Completing the 129 Chenango St. Project
-Training our members and leaders, including sending them to Iowa to attend a presidential forum
-Completing our new website, thanks to the wonderful people at the Office of Language and Beauty
We're happy we've done so much, but we're not content. PUSH is intent on continuing to build our member base and expand our allies throughout the spring and summer. We need more voices in the PUSH choir because there is power in numbers and people are policymakers. We're hitting the streets, getting out into the neighborhood and determined to let the powers-that-be know that poverty is not an option and we will not be silenced!
