PUSH Launches New Compost Business

PUSH Blue is launching PUSH Gro, a compost & native plant initiative to create a more sustainable and climate resilient Buffalo.
People United for Sustainable Housing’s mission is to mobilize residents to create strong
neighborhoods with quality, affordable housing, expand local hiring opportunities, and advance
environmental and economic justice in Buffalo. The establishment of PUSH Gro aligns with this
mission by contributing to the ecological respect and responsibility to our living communities, as well as continuing to lead replicable community-scale efforts that care for the future of our natural environment.
PUSH Gro processes the Lexington Co-op’s organic waste into high quality compost for sale, and has a greenhouse that propagates and grows plants native to the Western New York region. PUSH Gro sells its products at Urban Roots (plants) and the Lexington Co-op (compost), with the intention to extend product to other local organizations with growth. PUSH Gro will also supply PUSH Buffalo with materials for internal projects through PUSH Blue’s stormwater management projects.
