This weekend, 9 PUSH members and leaders participated in this year's National People's Action
, a gathering of 24 National Training and Information Center
affiliated community groups across the country who are dedicated to making change in their neighborhoods just like PUSH!
On early Saturday morning we departed from the PUSH office with prayer from Rev. Cruz and some clutch driving from Sara and Harrison. We met tons of great people from groups like Syracuse United Neighbors, Great Old Lower East Side, and the Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative and we participated heavily in all of the actions and events which were going on. The way the weekend was structured allowed for very little down time, so we were always in a workshop, traveling to an action, or grabbing a quick bite to eat. From storming the lobby of Wells-Fargo to conducting a legislative briefing on the Community Regeneration Sustainability & Innovation Act, PUSH was right in the middle of it! One our leaders, Ron Andrews, even spoke in front of 600 people at one of the actions and told his story about his own personal struggle to keep his home. Great job Ron!
PUSH would like to thank the staff of NTIC & NPA, all of the wonderful people we met and everyone who made the trip possible. We are SO excited to bring the energy, tactics, and information present at NPA back to Buffalo!
